MERCER — Hunters Sharing the Harvest, Pennsylvania’s acclaimed venison donation program, has successfully coordinated the processing and distribution of deer meat from hunters to hungry people for 30 years. This year, however, is the first since 1991 without John Plowman at the helm.
During Plowman’s tenure as executive director, along with co-founder Ken Brandt, the HSH board of directors and thousands of donors and volunteers have taken the 501c3 non-profit charity from a simple idea for generous Pennsylvania hunters to share their extra deer meat with those in need to a nationally recognized model many other states now replicate.
